Vacation Was Good

So, the Thanksgiving vacation was so great that I didn't post anything in this section. I did, however, post a review of the beer festival (check out the "On Beer" section) and I'm also going to sit down and create an entry for the brewery tour I went on.

With the end of the semester in the next few weeks, I'll likely be ranting and raving in some apocalyptic fashion. Til then...

Good brews and good tunes,

Potential Roadblock

We all knew that dentists were evil but they have even managed to outdo themselves this time.

My lingering threat of an emergency wisdom tooth extraction has all but been confirmed to take place during my supposed perfect week home for Thanksgiving break.

It's not the surgery.

It's not the pain.

Albeit, I'm not exactly thrilled to be unconscious and physically at the disposal of the future soldiers of hell known as those in the field of dentistry.

I'm most anxious about being all well and fine for my week's plans [see "I'm A Gitty Little Bitch!"]

So, wish me luck, subscribe to the blog, and join the forum for a public auction for my soon-to-be useless wisdom teeth.

I hope their departure doesn't affect my vocabulary or beer knowledge.

Cheers!

I'm Gitty Little Bitch!

Could I have any better of a reason to be, though?

I currently have two and a half more days until I depart my beloved State College apartment for a 10 days getaway; where else? but, home-- sweet home.

Sure, you may be thinking that I'm a lame, homesick little boy. However, I'm confident that my plans while I am home with absolve you of any of those predetermined opinions.

First of all, I look forward to spending the time with my girlfriend, Danielle, my family and friends. Officer John Mroczka has even taken the liberty of scheduling his days off around my vacation home; that's a friend.

Furthermore, I have two amazing beer events to attend while I am home-- one being the Great Brews of America Classic Beer Festival at Split Rock Resort in Lake Harmony, Pa. There will be dozens of my favorite breweries offering samples of their flagship and seasonal beverages like Dogfish Head, Rogue, Stone, Allagash, Abita, and so many more.

The event will also accommodate Pennsylvania breweries like Lancaster, Stoudt's, Tröegs, and Appalachian; creating the perfect segway to my second beer event-- The D&W Beer Tour!

We will be departing at 9am. to travel all over the beer-savvy commonwealth of PA to conduct touring, tasting, swagging, and dinning in the company of Daniels, Webster, Chip the Beer Guy and the aforementioned brewmasters and owners of the aforementioned breweries.

Beyond that, I have plans to revisit my old stopping grounds of Lakeland High School to shoot a photo assignment for my Photojournalism class. That should make for an interesting visit with those who remember me; be it in a positive light or possibly in their nightmares.

Moreover, I'll be just as excited to relax with good people and good food during my Thanksgiving revelry. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, broccoli with cheese, yams, and-- of course, some quality holiday brew.

There will be a possibility of some less than enthralling events in my near future. For instance, my wisdom teeth seem to be showing interest in not being involved in this year's Thanksgiving, if you know what I mean. Whatever. We'll see how it goes.

Keep your eyes out for my pictures and blogs of the two beer events, as I will be in possesion of a Nikon D-80 to capture my experiences and then report back here with my thoughts.

I can't put into words the worth of time spent with family, friends and loved ones. Every year, the holidays fly by and I'm left feeling like I didn't take advantage of them the best that I could, but this year I'm starting early. So...

Happy Holiday,

The Pleasure's All Yours

The name (as stated above) is Brad Beneski; tastefully extracted from my whole name of Bradley Martin John Ezekiel Beneski. I drink, appreciate, respect, and create craft beer, play drums for a rock band called Melded, and attend school at Penn State University with concentration in journalism and a minor in English. I hate English majors.

I have dreams. I would like to play music for the rest of my life; maybe even experience some success if that’s not too much to ask. I am an aspiring entrepreneur. Opening a brewpub is something that I daydream of on a daily basis. I insistently pen clever names and fashion interesting concepts for beer styles. Most recently, I am interested in brewing a “Special Brownie Porter” with provocative hop and chocolate characteristics. Of course, we can’t just go and rely on dreams to come true. I would also like to keep a comfortable position at a local print media company like The Weekender, Electric City, The Scranton Times, or something of the like; maybe even control a beer column? Ooooh!!

I have a three part blog here and they are divided up into my three loves; Music, Beer, and Random Nonsense. Check them out at your own discretion.

Duty calls,
Brad Beneski
